Genetic divergence between sub-accessions of the melon using molecular markers

The melon (Cucumis melo L.) is one of the most important horticultural crops in northeast Brazil. Thecharacterisation germplasm an effi cient process for managing plant genetic resources, as it contributes to better conservationand improved use breeding programs. In present study, divergence between sub-accessions takenfrom traditional agriculture semi-arid region Brazil was evaluated using ISSR and RAPD markers, verifying level ofagreement with botanical classifi cation. Twenty-six preserved Active Germplasm Bank Cucurbitaceae forthe Brazil, located at Embrapa Semiárido Petrolina, Pernambuco, were analysed. binary matrix molecular datawas used obtain dissimilarities complement Jaccard index. representedin dendrograms generated UPGMA method.
